smoothie for one this morning: (K. went to work early)

large handful of spinach and lettuce
several slices cucumber
a bit of leftover pineapple
a frozen banana
coconut milk*

*coconut milk is divine. K and I went out for Thai the other night and ended our meal with an amazing, amazing dessert-- sticky rice with coconut milk and mango. I think this has started a coconut milk resurgence in my life.

This was very good and refreshing. It was quite a bit more liquid-y because I added a lot of OJ. Turns out L. likes that a lot better

1 banana
1 kiwi
several slices cucumber
a ton of lettuce
orange juice

We've had this 3 days in a row now:

1 c. blueberries
1-2 bananas
1-2 large radishes
lots of romaine lettuce
orange juice (one day it was strawberry yogurt)

Monday, March 10, 2008

1/2 mango
5 large romaine leaves (yes, we're stuck on romaine because it is cheap)
1 banana
1/2 can pineapple and juice
water

= Yum!

I'm starting to realize I like smoothies with at least 1 banana in them-- makes it a bit more smooth and creamy.

I love this change.

Since we've committed to doing a green smoothie every morning and a fresh green salad every night (really, a very easy commitment since both taste good and we've quickly noticed that we feel better)-- Ive been buying more produce than I every have before.

I love that today I ran to the grocery store and purchased:
1 head of romaine
1 bunch of radishes
3 kiwis
strawberries
1 zucchini

No processed anything. We will blow thru all of this in 2 days no problem-- probably one day. But, i'm out of grocery budget money so until Friday, this is what we have.

A new winner.

1 large pink grapefruit, skin cut off, seeds removed
1 banana
4 large romaine leaves
a bit of celery
water

Monday, March 3, 2008

8 strawberries
2 bananas
2 stalks celery
4 large lettuce leaves
water

Brown, but good. I think, though, one stalk of celery is better.
